Welcome to Claypool, a charming rural community nestled in southern Kosciusko County, in the heart of North Central Indiana.

Founded in 1873, Claypool has deep roots in agriculture and proudly reflects Indiana’s rich farming heritage.

Once a bustling hub of local trade and transportation, Claypool sits at the historic crossroads of two major railroads, now operated by Norfolk Southern. Our town is also proud to be the birthplace of Indiana’s very first Miss Basketball, Judy Warren, as well as Mr. Basketball, Kevin Ault.

Frequently Asked Questions

Trash pickup day is on Friday. This service is billed monthly on your Wastewater billing. Recyclables are picked up every other Friday. The bright blue tote is where those should be placed. If you need information regarding what is accepted, please contact the Clerk-Treasurer. Trash should be placed at the curb no earlier than the night before pick-up. The totes should be taken from the curb by the end of the same day as pick up.

Water Utilities are provided by American Water. Wastewater Utilities are provided by the Town of Claypool. These are billed separately and should be paid as such.

Each Spring the Town plans with the trash company for a pickup of those items that are not included in their normal trash pickup. The Clerk treasurer will send notices with the Wastewater bills with all the information.

Thank you in advance for keeping your grass trimmed and neatly mowed. Reminder-please do not blow the grass into the streets. The debris will clog the storm drains and cause possible flooding during a rain event.

The Street Department provides excellent removal of the snow from our streets and alleyways. The Town has one employee salting and plowing the snow. Be patient as this task is completed. Be mindful where you are parking and bring your trash totes away from the curb as soon as possible during a snow event. Do not plow or shovel snow from your own driveway into the streets.

The Street Department will pick up any limbs, or brush debris. These must be easily handled by one person and should be placed at the curb. Anything needing to be picked up should be no longer than four feet and stacked as neatly as possible. If you have any questions regarding this process, please reach out to the Street Department.

Leaf pickup is provided in the Fall. Leaves must be collected in paper biodegradable bags. No plastic bags will be accepted.

Currently the providers are RTC, Mercury Wireless and Frontier. K-Connect is coming soon.
